Gardening In The Rain.....

I used to think that in order to do yard work or gardening it had to be sunny out, boy was I wrong!  So today I shucked all my sadness for the long lost sun and put on my gardening hat!

I am a Gardening Fashionista!!
I have had so much fun this morning gardening in the rain, way better than singing in the rain!

Calla Lilies

Love the Calla Lilies!  But the pot needs a little something else.....
Any Suggestions??

Since I was on such a roll I decided to plant the Jack-O-Laterns and some small Sunflowers in my wooden wheel barrow planter that is by the shed!
Wheel Barrow planter!!
Not sure about you guys but I like instant gratification - so planting seeds and waiting for them to grow is tough for me.  So hopefully the seeds will sprout soon!

Lastly I pulled up most of one of my flower beds today.  I had a bout 5 or 6 lavender plants that looked horrible. Now they are gone, but they put up quite a fight! Looking forward to a trip to Molbaks to give my flower beds a makeover!

How 'bout you... do you garden in the rain?

Rain Rain Go Away.....

I don't know about you but I am ready for a sunny Spring! I am anxious to get my Springtime projects started and (fingers crossed) finished.

Here is what will be going on around the Tin Palace this Spring:

-I am redoing the 2 flower beds in front of the Tin Palace.

-Raised garden in the back- for some vegetables. (Looking forward to having homemade soups with veggies from my garden next Fall and Winter!!)
My Dad is going to help me make the raised garden- maybe Matt can help too.  It will be a fun 3 generation project! Looking forward to some quality time with my Dad!

-Window boxes full of pretty flowers on the front of my little shed in the back.

Did I mention I am going to repaint the Tin Palace, the garage and the little shed too??  YIKES!
I am planning on being a bit ambitious this Spring (it's about time too!)
Hopefully now that it is put out there into the blogisphere,  I HAVE TO GET IT DONE!!

So with all the projects I have to get done around here, I am sending Mother Nature some love in hopes she will smile down on us with some beautiful rays of sunshine.

Look Out Molbaks.... I May Be Moving In!!!!

Never in my life have I been to Molbak's Garden and Home.... until today.  Now... I can't wait for payday so I can go back.
Five minutes in and plants are making their way into the cart.
As I walked around smelling, admiring plants, and taking in all the inspiration that Molbak's has to offer, I could not believe I had never been there before!  I could practically live there amongst the sweet scents.  Do you think they would notice me sleeping on some of the outdoor furniture?? There was even an outdoor firepit, that could keep me warm.......

Here are some of the sights from my first trip Molbak's:

Pansies and on sale too!
Hyacinth- smelled so good - it ended up in my cart
(I will be going back for more!)
Camellia- Reminds me of my Grandpa!
Buddha looks peaceful

Molbak's makes me happy!  Can't wait to start gardening!!

Here Comes The Sun

The sun is shining and it is a beautiful day at the Tin Palace!  I am feeling very motivated today. I am trying to get the royal interior of the Tin Palace cleaned and organized so that I can spend the rest of this weekend doing something fun!

On one of my trips to the garage to put something away or start a load of laundry, my eyes caught a glimpse of my pathetic flower beds in the front of the house.  They are sad looking from the winter and just plain sad looking from lack of attention.  Well I have a feeling that this is the year that the flower beds will bloom into something amazing.  Now if I can find some fun beautiful things to bloom at the Tin Palace .... any suggestions??

I am a little embarrassed about this .... but here is what one of the flower beds look like now......  as you can see there is some weeds getting comfy in there and the plants have been beaten by heavy rain and cold temperatures, not to mention lack of love from me.

Part of the beds - they need some new soil, plants and lots of love!

The plants may look sad - but I have garden art!
